Did you know the concept of the “good” vs “bad” mother is a relatively new one? In the US, it’s only existed for about 100 years. Before that the standard was basically: don’t kill your kids. That’s it. I talked about it with @reshmasaujani.bsky.social on her podcast My So-Called Midlife:

I am determined to pet this little guy or gal who has been hanging out on our property a bunch lately. Seems achievable since they don’t bolt when they see me coming, but move away and then stop to look at me and sometimes have walked a couple of steps back towards me.
