#PersonsDay is complicated. I’m thankful to those before me who fought for women’s rights… AND I’m painfully aware that the women Emily Murphy thought should have rights didn’t look like me. Asian women couldn’t vote until 1948. Indigenous women couldn’t vote until 1960.

I have a daddy-shaped hole in my heart. Today would have been his birthday. He loved being a teacher and he would have loved being an おじいちゃん. I honoured his memory by doing some advocacy work for public education in Toronto this weekend. I remember him well in who I am and in what I do. ❤️
