I’m sure you cover this, but the obvious answer to your question is that this is an ideology that (more than any other) treats the university itself as a place of the greatest political significance and influence. Therefore it becomes all the harder for *academics* to find critical distance on it.

Actually, I was thinking conversely: that rules and behaviours of soc media are poss just versions of same in many prefiguring, or ‘trad’ social fields (using my own experience as e.g. only). I do find your notion of bsky as a place of ‘consolation’ spot on, btw, esp re US liberals.
