He's not the only one guilty of hypocrisy on this matter but this was a particularly bad comment and one where the correct course of action was for the person making the comment to apologise and for everyone else on their side to shut up.

Certainly we should listen to people telling us political discourse has taken a much darker and scarier turn very recently. But Question Time even forty years ago wasn't some golden age of Socratic dialogue, it was Keating throwing grade five-level insults at people and being lauded for it.
