That's a wrap on 25th year of the intensive Marsh Tit study at Monks Wood. @martamaziarz.bsky.social & I colour-ringed all new juvs, we think. Adult survival good but recruitment low, likely related to drought/heatwaves. Extreme hot/dry or wet/cold weather in spring-summer seems to hit juvs badly.

In one small area of saltmarsh at Holme-next-the-Sea we found plenty of Sea Aster - some fully-rayed Tripolium pannonicum var. pannonicum, lots of rayless Tripolium pannonicum var. flosculosum and some that was unsure of its identity... #wildflowerhour @bsbibotany.bsky.social

#WildflowerHour Cyclamen ( aka Sowbread ) Cyclamen hederifolium, forms a substantial patch on a verge near Monmouth. The flower stalk is coiling back onto the soil to release the seed, which will probably be carried away by ants.
