October 10th was World Migratory Bird Day. Here's a 26-year-old Common Tern, at its natal site where it was metal ringed as a chick. It was colour ringed in Senegal! An amazing show of its migration destinations/stop offs. #Seabirds @btobirds.bsky.social @jncc.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social

Three species new to Wales here, bringing the total to 15 since 2020. With four years to go, that's already surpassed the total for the whole of the previous decade. Look forward to reading the write-ups in the forthcoming @welshbirdsrarities.bsky.social report. #BirdingWales Details in AltText

male Yellow Wagtail in a field beside tidal River Dee near Saltney yesterday. Female collecting nesting material nearby. They have adapted to nest in monocultures of wheat, barley & potatoes - nearby pastures used for feeding. #birdingWales @birdsinwales.bsky.social @btocymru.bsky.social
Show PostGreat to have completed work on updating the list, with the new taxonomic order and names, in time for New Year adoption. Also used by @welshbirdsrarities.bsky.social - Nearctic form of Teal remains a description species. #BirdingWales
