@plantpollinator.bsky.socialRiver landings & some takeoffs, can be tough if the wind isn't aligned with your required "runway" - that in this case included bridge pylons & hills Give me a lake where you pick the runway direction into the wind anyday Im pretty certain the pilot was simply reacting to the cards he/she dealt.
Show PostI dont know what the winds were doing, but any crosswind or improper cross control can lead to one wing producing more lift than another This isn't an acrobatic aircraft w/high performance capabilities. It is an aircraft that has approximately 20% more drag than a standard tricycle gear aircraft.
Show PostYou could ding the pilot for his judgment on the departure plan, but the decision to go under the bridge was a sound one. The pilot took the airplane out of ground effect too soon to climb out above that first bridge; approached stall, and did what he had to do to recover Under was his only choice
Show PostYou could see they realized they would hit the bridge or stall if they continued to pull up, so they pitched down to maintain airspeed but had to go under the bridge to do so. The stall buzzer was probably screaming at them until they nosed down.
Show PostFAA is gonna have a fun time with this one
