This is all by way of saying I find hosting tiring and visiting almost as much, but I think they are really good and necessary things.

Recently we have started hosting a fortnightly RPG game at our house. It's a secular occasion but it happens on Fridays so we also celebrate Shabbat in the company of our guests, and we're trying to always have that mean there's a meal before the game. It's early doors yet but it feels real good.

I strangely have never felt the need to cut my mother out of my life, even when we disagree. Perhaps that's because the things we disagree on aren't the right of trans people to live their lives or racism being wrong.
