This week in 1792 the Assembly Rooms, Mosley Street, Manchester were opened. From there grew an area of fashionable clubs and societies centred on ‘the handsomest street in Manchester’, with @porticolibrary.bsky.social built opposite and the Theatre Royal behind.

Tremendous news! A new hub for the arts in Manchester - just down from Central Library and the MOMA, above the 'spoons with the ornate doorway - recommend going before its closed for refurb. Greek revivalist design inspired 200 years ago by the Lyceum in Liverpool.
