Fine 4th place for Didier Pironi (Tyrrell 009; pic) at the majestic old Interlagos #OnThisDay in ’79, at that time his best result in an ’F1 GP. The podium finishers were Jacques Laffite & Patrick Depailler (both Ligier) & Carlos Reutemann (Lotus).

Show PostRemembering Mike Beuttler, who died of #HIV/#AIDS #OnThisDay in ’88, aged 48. Gay at a time when that was a hard thing to be, especially for an #F1 driver, he drove 28 F1 GPs in ’71, ’72 & ’73.
Show PostI’ve just finished #ACruelCorpse, written by my cousin Ben Bergonzi. It’s an 18th-century military historical novel - not my go-to genre - but I enjoyed it. Jasper, a soldier, is also a molly - a rent boy - while Hayden is a woman who disguises herself as a man. Give it a go.
