Keep them up to date with the current state of the game? As gameplay systems are implemented and finalized this won't be the lift people seem to imagine. Turning a 2026 ship into a 2030 ship is orders of magnitude easier than going from a 2015 ship to a 2026 ship.

I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I have no problems taking them at their word on the ship plans. Can't buy old versions outright, but they'll be available - sure, they've already introduced alternate ways to acquire ships. No reason to think they wouldn't expand that.

One thing that I don't think players can answer is, have CIG done much external playtesting for Squadron 42? I mean bringing in third party playtesters during development to detect bottlenecks, as is common in game dev. Because everyone's comments about the zero-g section really got me wondering.
