@jordiponsdotme.bsky.socialFair enough, and my gripe isn't with generative music so much as it is with exploitation of the artists who comprise the training sets. There's room to create great art with AI tools, but the IP stealing need to be addressed. Until then it's a bit of a blood diamond issue in my mind.
Show PostI would modulate that by saying that it's possible to create AI art that draws attention to its process, mechanics and biases - its artefacts and politics. But I think you probably agree with that already, there just aren't enough characters in posts to say it all in one.
Show PostNowhere in my post do I assume that all genAI works like this.
Show PostIt would be fun to see a new generation waking up to these ideas if they weren't so swaggeringly blind drunk on snake oil, walking into the room as though they invented the ability to create on the fly, or according to a process, imagining they are the first to make art flexible and accessible.
Show PostAlso static media are not received in a static manner. Every time you experience a recorded artefact there are differences in you, your perception, your understanding, the environment, the context. It's not possible to have the same experience twice, even of the same physical artefact.
