I cannot stress enough how helpful it is when you like a thing that someone created (like, say, a book they wrote) & you TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT. Word of mouth can be an incredible tool, yes, even if you don't think you're a fancy influencer with an incredible following. Your recommendations go places!

that scene could have been the whole movie! brenda's a black girl in a horror world with enough awareness of the rules to manipulate them to her advantage or duck out of an obviously bad situation her white peers will, without fail, hysterically drag themselves into because that's the rules

everyone else is just kind of gags about their stock archetypes but brenda gets to actually react to the idiosyncratic world around her rather than accept it the way everyone else does, and that’s INCREMENTALLY funnier
