There are so many interesting stories that are being completely left by the wayside by the new "indie wave" purely because the way that it's paid for absolutely sucks and is unstable in every way. There's a reason the giant studios can do more animation, and it's mostly about stability of income.

We need more money to go into the indie "system" that isn't purely fan merch-based so that people who don't have EXACTLY the right circumstances can still make these things and have space to hire people to help them. Government subsidies, LARGE grants, and private big dollar investors are needed.

I love the rise of indie animation. I also notice that the people who make these indie pilots or shows basically only make them. Never really see any of these cool indie projects made by people who are middle-aged with children and there's a reason for that.

Wait did people think Disney bought the wreckage of Character.AI to *not* also grab up their programmers? These AI companies are trash but they had stupid-investor cash to burn on hiring and as they crash all that actual human talent is some of their only real commodity.
