You can make safe, escapist art, and it can do well, but I know that "safe art is doing well" doesn't mean that unsafe art can't also succeed.

We're ravenous for art that touches on real topics right now, but it can't be *safe.* You can't half-ass it. Every time I make things hit harder, every time I make things more real, every time I kill my inner puritan and write that thing I'm scared of, I get positive feedback. People love it.

I think the people who just want to be tieflings were *never* going to be playing these kind of games. I don't think this is a new thing. 7pp exists. Praise the Hawkmoth King exists. Girlframe exists. There's an audience for this stuff, which is fantastical and real at the same time
