I grew up in a Limbaugh, Michael Savage household. To put it bluntly, as I grew up, so did my parents. We all saw together that right-wing rhetoric didn't match right-wing behavior. Today, they attend No Kings rallies. So, I have no sympathy for parents who refused to grow up. Your bed. Lie in it.

I know a fair number of people who cut off their parents and in every case it was something like this. "I'll put up with your idiotic bullshit so long as it doesn't directly threaten the lives of my friends and family" is a pretty fair standard imo

I keep thinking back to a point when our neurodivergent kids were in middle school and I realized that 1 major issue causing problems was that they interpreted "Respect," a core value of the school, as "Valuing Others," and the school admin & teachers interpreted it as "Deference to Authority."
