Baird’s Sandpiper at Drift Res today (11th Oct) for its second day. Spotted Sand seems to have moved on.
Show PostScilly Day 3 once bitten, twice shniped? Oct 2024 & sure I had a Wilson's Snipe at IoSBG hide on Lower Moors - that is until (after a 90 min stake-out) it showed it's upper wing 😩. Roll-on 2 years & another strong candidate, well considered by all. Fortunately this bird did not stretch its wing😜
Show PostAn excellent mid-morning arrival with well over a thousand Chaffinches, also a Woodlark, 80 Skylark, 82 Redwing, two Mistle Thrush, 220 Starling, 58 Brambling, 43 Siskin, two Mealy Redpoll (briefly in the Moat) and 45 Reed Bunting. Also over 500 Stock Dove attempted to go out to sea. #kentbirding
Show PostMeadow Pipit at Langdon Cliffs, also 11 Brambling.
Show PostPM seawatch #Reculver with Jack Chantler & Nigel Jarman @nigej.bsky.social. Forecast switch to a north-westerly didn't disappoint. Prolonged views of a Cory's Shearwater just after drizzle ceased around 12.51 moving east from the Swale. 6 Arctic Skua & 13 Little Gull were good supporting cast.
