A couple candids of me in the coat the one time I wore it for a small event, just to show silhouette and shape.
Show PostNot pictured: me wearing it once and the fabric starting to fray out of the seam in the center back because apparently needle holes from a FINE needle are too much for this fabric to handle?? I was recommended some stay tape I am going to have to add along the center back at least.
Show PostDid the scary part of cutting the bottom off and refinished the edge. Compared the hem finishing to an old store-bought real lab coat, went ahead with the bottom hem, tacked the facings down on the inside with hand stitches, and voila she is done!
Show PostAttached the facing I drafted along the back and around the shoulders, under stitched it to finish. Decided on the final sleeve length with a try on and then let the coat hang before choosing a final hem length. It actually looked like a garment at this point!
Show PostIt was somewhere around here that I got really deterred by the fabric and had put the project down for a while. Collar done with edge stitching, hand basted my sleeves in because if I had to unpick I didn't want runs, and drafted a back facing to have the inside stay cleanish looking.
