I shan't give up, not yet! Tomorrow looking damp again but it'll be wellies and waterproofs from dawn to avoid a repeat of today's multiple soakings!
Show PostDisappointment aside, during the rain there was actually some really cool migration, 500 Starling arrived in 30 minutes, W'pigeons appeared from the clouds. A'noon session and there were multiple Firecrests, Dartfords, Chiffs, 2 Black Reds, 2 Merlins. 21k steps and multiple loops still no biggie!
Show PostVismig, winter thrushes and more migrant moths... stevesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2026/10/vism...
Show PostPortland Day 5 - much promise did almost deliver. A personal best of 13 Woodlark over, Yellow-browed Warbler dropping out of the sky onto a fence (earlier ringed at the obs) great vismig of Pigeons, Stock Doves etc. Black Red in the bill quarry, we continue!! First post birding pub visit, superb!!
Show PostThe southerly gales thankfully abated overnight and today a big arrival of Barnacle Geese and new groups of Whooper Swans moving south. Single Lesser Whitethroat and Blackcap the only signs of migrant passerines and both could’ve just been sitting the winds out rather than new in. #WestrayBirding
