My fourth year as fossil mammal curator at the @nhm-london.bsky.social has come and gone! Another busy one, from fieldwork in Greece to digging through archives. We've cleared clutter, documented specimens, and shared the wonder. Exciting new research and gallery work somehow squeezed in too! ☺️

Working on a plant-insect relationships lecture and found something new to me. Midgley et al (2015) (doi.org/10.1038/npla...) reported a smelly, dung-mimicking seed that is primarily dispersed by deceived dung beetles! 'a' and 'b' below are Ceratocaryum seeds. 'g' is the beetles' typical target

Stuff I saw this week: - A French dinosaur holotype being auctioned. - Allegations of a (former) UK academic restricting access to a mosasaur holotype. - Allegations of access to a Brazilian fish holotype being restricted. None of this is acceptable. Holotypes are the bedrock of our research.
