Chatting with my son I casually said “there’s no such thing as subtraction” and he rolled his eyes and said “I know, it’s the additive inverse”. 🤣 He didn’t get that language from me - apparently this was said in a recent class. Q: is it usual to meet this language/idea in year 7? #MathsToday

In #MathsToday in #MBF3C students were learning about transformations of quadratic functions. I was surprised that a number of students said that this graph doesn't have any zeros and one also said that it doesn't have a y-intercept. I found this very interesting and it led to a good conversation.
