Overall the original KH has definitely a clunky camera, but targeting solves the issue A LOT of the time and it’s why I didn’t really feel it as a kid. The sections suffering the most from it are the platforming ones

Goofy even suggests training with Merlin at the same time! And the weird movement underwater is less cumbersome if you fight by using magic from a distance. Plus, it’s very useful how targeting something and moving towards it slowly adjusts your altitude without pressing any other button. Clever!
