There was a gentleman I think of often, @wildwoods.bsky.social who called USFS a “captured agency.” Meaning, serving industry interest over public interest. The agency is not a watchdog to itself. That said, it’s in the agency’s best interest not to be sued by an NGO or called to task by Congress.

I was just thinking I hadn't seen a post from Evan in some time and came to see where he'd been - this is such sad news. I'm so sorry, Maria. I deeply appreciated Evan's commitment to conservation and forest resilience. He will be missed.
