This whole deal is beyond odious but I can't get entirely behind the idea that this is a turn-off for GOP voters. You have to be pretty the fuck plugged in to know why this is awful, and GOP voters are extremely prone to privileging precisely this "actually, my KID did me WRONG" narrative
