I'm still thankful every day for the fact that most websites are built on an HTML DOM that is so friendly to introspection and hacking. Given the directions the rest of mainstream computing is going it feels like a miracle that we got that and it has held on for so long.

Harberger taxes on copyright are underrated. Each year you choose X, you have to pay $X that year, and anyone can pay 30 * X to automatically buy a license to use the work in whatever way they want (including public-domaining it).

The challenge with haters is always that they demotivate people who are medium-aligned, while the people on the deep end of being whatever you're against just lol and circle their wagons harder. IMO this is a leading cause of polarization in many contexts.
