I love Michael Corleone. I find his transformation absolutely riveting. And somehow, miraculously, I have managed to appreciate "The Godfather" without deciding that having my brother murdered is an acceptable way to resolve family disagreements.

I think one of the most damaging things social media has done to literary discussion is encourage people to believe that recognizing a character's moral failings is the conclusion of criticism rather than its starting point.

The incels are mad again... No, The Godfather isn't replacing Michael Corleone. A new novel is retelling the first film from Connie's perspective. Same story. Different POV. Michael isn't going anywhere. Apparently, a woman having a perspective is enough to send them into a meltdown.
