What I think is a Honey Fungus (Armillaria) looking very much like a Bolete at first 💛 in Dorset today #Fungi #Mushrooms

That’s an unusual speckled fungus I thought. On closer examination it was covered in what I now think are oribatid mites. A new one on me, but apparently there are many thousands of species. See ALT text for more info 15/10/26. #mites #fungi

An interesting mushroom for #FungiFriday - the Silky Piggyback (Asterophora parasitica) which mainly only grows in old Blackening Brittlegill (Russula nigricans) Exmoor #Fungi #Mushrooms @britmycolsoc.org.uk

What an incredibly beautiful Bolete found in a very wet part of the New Forest, this week. It could be the relatively uncommon Xerocomellus ripariellus (or perhaps X. cisalpinus). May get a more definitive ID next week. Whatever it is, it’s very lovely. #fungi #NewForest
