Probably two things: - lots of men not doing any assaulting, meaning a smaller handful of men are assaulting multiple victims - most people don't talk openly about assaulting someone so why would other men know?

Right but those ones actually make sense for the thing they're meant to convey and are based in actual history. In what 19th century circumstances are you throwing a stone at a pack of dogs and wanting to work out which one you wounded?
