Yeah, similar reasons why I never got the whole Stars Wars nostalgia. 1) the Jedi philosophy is morally abhorrent 2) their civilisation is based on the enslavement of sentient beings...who know they are slaves

That's an unfair reading of the book, the real draw are the moral values it teaches, like the importance of being more special and important than everyone else because you were just born that way.
