when Metroid Dread was announced, i had never actually played a proper 2D Metroid game. it looked really good tho and i wanted to give it a shot, so i tried out Zero Mission. i wound up playing through every 2D game the Prime trilogy before its release and ive been hooked ever since

I didn’t have access to my switch until the end of my college semester, and i didn’t get this game until christmas, but once i did, i played the hell out of it. I remember being absolutely blown away by the boss fights, and i had a lot of fun figuring out where to go. Burenia was my favorite area

Having seen the urban legend at the time and all the nonsense, Dread becoming a reality was quite special. Half of my life at the time was spent believing it wouldn't exist until a raven in a Power Suit got me invested.

I'm mixed on this game, but I'm glad for what it did for the Metroid franchise going forward! MercurySteam's translation from the Gameboy's muted 3D palette to a whopping 3D deserves nothing but praise - and Samus' movements are so quick and sleek! The first time fighting a Gamma Metroid? Amazing!
