Was going to say the same. It's the land version of an oxbow lake 😄. I've seen a few where the old path dies. There's one near me where a desire line formed a couple of years ago and the original winding path has become overgrown and died.

I suspect this is true. Annoying the that disability requirements are always just a number to be met on paper rather than actually designed around disabled people. If I’m not in my wheelchair my ass is taking the shortest path. Making my walk longer distances is effectively torture on some days
