One of the worst things to have happened in this whole situation was to make "gender critical ideology" a protected belief. There is no difference between making racism, homophobia or any other such small minded bigotry a protected characteristic. Hate isn't a defensible ideology.

There is no difference between those claiming there should be a "debate" over whether trans and non-binary individuals deserve rights, hell even exist, and those who claim "legitimate concerns" and "protecting women and children" by trying to set alight to migrant communities. It's the same bigotry.

Anti trans ideology is no different from any other bigotry. There is no "debate" to be had here. Yes, yes, people go "oh you have to understand...." Yet that ignores you are trying to "debate" whether trans and non-binary individuals have a right to exist. You don't debate people's right to exist.

The ramping up of anti-trans campaigning is, and always has been, exactly the same as racism and every other form of bigotry. It is about a vocal extreme minority attempting to get an already marginalised group removed. They may try and frame it nicely, but the outcome is the same.

People have become desensitised to the harm caused by "gender critical" ideology. It already demonstrated that anti trans ideology doesn't "protect women", it actually increases harassment and embeds misogynistic ideas of "how women should look", but it has never been about "protection".
