It’s being explored in combo with checkpoint inhibitors and may have use in other EGF-driven cancers. Still early days, but the idea of a therapeutic cancer vaccine that’s affordable and scalable is worth watching especially for lower-resourced settings.

CIMAvax is given after chemo in advanced NSCLC and works best in patients with low baseline EGF. It doesn’t attack the tumor directly it starves it by generating antibodies to neutralize EGF. Lower toxicity, lower cost, and early data suggest a survival benefit. U.S. trials are ongoing.

I am guessing you are referring to this vaccine? It’s not preventive, it’s a therapeutic vaccine. It trains the immune system to make antibodies against EGF, a growth factor some cancers need to grow. Cut off the fuel, slow the tumor. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26927662/
