It’s very daunting talking to finance people when you’re a freelancer because you never know if you’re going to get someone who’ll be sympathetic to your circumstances, or someone who will be like ‘I don’t deal with losers’ vibe.

FREELANCER TIP: THE 25% RULE! The MOMENT payment hits your bank account, calculate 25% of the value of the invoice and then transfer that amount immediately to a savings account and DO NOT TOUCH IT. THAT'S FOR TAXES. Then pay yourself the remaining 75%. Account for this when determining rates!!!

TAX PSA: are YOU a freelancer who thinks you have no choice but to use Turbotax because you need to fill out a Schedule C form? WRONG ❌ FreeTaxUSA will do that for you! Federal taxes (including complicated forms like Schedule C) is free and state taxes only cost 15.99 !
