What labels do you buy your records from? Have you asked them? I find that bands that fit well on a label will have bought records from that label (or very similar labels) before.

And specifically they’re not really provided by the vanity labels that crop up. Those, at worst, make you pay to be on them for nothing in return. And at best, they’re just for kids to feel like they’re doing something. Something to suggest to the parents that you have a real job lol

This. The benefits of a label are potential industry connections and the possibility of a physical release for your album, but both of these can be gained/earned independently.

Tbh I’ve yet to have it sufficiently explained to me what the point of a boutique label is in the modern age. I just release stuff myself
