That would be a great story, but also one in which research isn't done by AI at all. Instead, AI is used as a tool for basic coding just like the vacuum cleaner is a tool for quicker sweeping. We rarely hear it stories like that.

There was definitely no deskilling going on and so much solid maths, more and more year after year. And so many applications. She explained that help in coding, which was comparatively routine, helped the researchers focus on maths.

I was thinking how being excellent and using AI isn't enough to get into media. I heard a talk recently by Annalisa Buffa. Her research group uses a metric shot tin of mathematical techniques plus AI support in coding to model well and fast things like blood flow in a heart.
