As someone who’s a fan of the Carrie musical and King’s novel, I agree. Howell was phenomenal, and I appreciated the expanded character work, but the finale undermined Carrie’s agency by shifting so much responsibility elsewhere. I understand the intention, but it weakens the tragedy.
