I knew I was gay at age 10-and-a-half. I knew it wasn't "just a phase" at age 11. And this was in the 70s, with zero representation. At first, I thought I was alone, and broken, I didn't understand why I was different. Once I realized it, memories going back to age 4-5 made a lot more sense.
