Show PostNo, actually I know another example where this happened and they tried to rehire the person when the funds appeared. They were not interested and stuck with their new career. Other institutes had to use left over grant money to bridge people. Hopefully in future STFC releases funds faster.
Show PostAlso affects more senior people funded by STFC. Someone told me a small number of senior hardware experts left academia after a long delay in release awarded grant funds (they got made redundant by their university due to this) and that someone, who has similar skills, is now looking to do the same.
