Totally agree. This had gone exactly the way the Tory management wanted it to. I haven't listened for years and I'm still sad about it. BBC radio 4 was the soundtrack to my life since the age of 13/14. It didn't need to be like this.

2019 was when Boris Johnson became PM and a lot of the practical government level anti trans stuff started. 2017 I think is when the Conservative Party turned it's back on David Cameron style social liberalism.
