I believe in restorative justice. I want that for Jacob and perhaps he was on that path (though fuck his uni for giving him the meagerest of punishments, but that’s the system working as intended). But he is owed nothing & he owes his/other victims ALL his consideration, which he did not give.

The “restorative justice” convos around Geller l miss the point. Maybe he is/was on that path. But he is owed nothing from us and I have more empathy for victims who found comfort in his work (like myself, I own his fucking book) and now feel betrayed at having emotionally invested in an abuser.

“Restorative justice” does not mean he is then owed an audience, or the audience he had prior to us learning about this. And this says nothing of my empathy for his victim who perhaps had to deal with the yearslong public praise for her rapist and now all this shit.
