  It’s the same deal with socialism. One party accuses the other side of it enough, those leaning the other way get a positive association. Obama wants Sharia! Well shucks, I like Obama, must be good then. Obamacare is socialism! Well shucks, socialism sounds pretty good then.

  Your disconnect is that most normal people view sharia as something akin to keeping kosher. We don't view religious mandates as operating outside those practicing the religion in question. It is only religious people, who think everyone should follow the edicts of their scripture, that object.
