  Watercolor is usually painted light-to-dark. Oil is usually painted dark-to-light. So when, for example, you see sunlight through some tree leaves, in watercolor you're usually seeing the paper, in oil you're usually seeing the paint.   Maybe the silver lining is that if Trump ends up using recess appointments, it will effectively be an admission that his nominees were unconfirmable even with a Republican Senate.
