Neither shark nor dinosaur, to my lingering disappointment. Still, on the plus side, mammals do have better music.

Cribbins, Postgate, Cant and Leeson - the holly tetrad who voiced my childhood are now all silenced. Thank you so much for the joy you brought children everywhere.

We had the pleasure of meeting John Leeson at Aldbourne a few years ago. Rory refused to believe this quiet old man was K9 until John switched to K9 mode and enthralled both my sons in a voice that transported me back to my childhood. My wife claims she's never seen the three of us so quiet.

Raising a glass to John Leeson, who as the voice of K9 breathed life into one of Doctor Who’s immortal characters - and not just life, but nuance and fun and drama and love. I had the pleasure of directing him in the audio remake of Shada. A dear man and a fine actor, adored throughout the business.

Aww. When I was in the studio for Warriors' Gate and hovering on the sidelines trying to keep out of everyone's way, it was John who came over and made me feel welcomed. Usually while the crew were rebooting the cameras that K9's radio controls had knocked offline. Ave,John

My first memory of Doctor Who is The Invisible Enemy and so John Leeson - and K9 - has always been an integral part of my journey through the show. What an erudite, charming, courteous, multi-talented man. An INTERESTED and therefore INTERESTING fellow. A pleasure to be with. Bless him. RIP John.
