    I don’t think that’s entirely right / fair. I don’t know a single person who understands the gravity of climate change who is able to live without cognitive dissonance. We are all enmeshed in a culture and economy that only exists because of fossil fuels.

    There does seem to be a remarkable overlap between the people who are not scared of the impacts of climate change and the people who think that we can keep using fossil fuels.

    I mean, this book talks about carbon removal as a kind of fetish that helps people manage the threat of powerlessness (what Freud calls castration) inherent in accepting the real of climate change, but I’m not sure that’s the whole answer.
