It's either you like Marvel movies or art films. I dunno man I don't really like either. I exist in the weird cytoplasm surrounding all that, the foreign films that aren't cool to like and the indie productions whose flaws are a little too hard to ignore.

Movies are such a broad thing, you know. If you say you like anime or tokusatsu or comics that already narrows the scope dramatically. But with movies it's somehow both paralyzingly broad and also impossible to talk about without getting pigeonholed on one end or the other.

I don't watch the movies that would allow me to carry on a conversation with a coworker nor do I watch the movies that give me hardcore cinephile cred. The most memorable cinematic experience I had this year was The Book of Henry

You know I probably watch more movies than the average person does but if you called me a movie fan or tried to carry on a conversation with me about movies I would run into the woods in shame and embarrassment
