    Despite being in production since 1972, the X1/9 still looked contemporary, with the brochure calling it 'a miniature masterpiece', evoking Bertone's Ferrari 308 GT4 and Lancia Stratos designs. The standard model is shown here - both it and the VS had an 85bhp 1.5-litre engine and 108mph top speed.

    The X1/9 had adopted Bertone badges in 1982 to reflect its designer and constructor, although it was still promoted as a Fiat in the UK. The luxury VS version is shown here, easily distinguishable by its two-tone paintwork and a leather interior.

    Halloween seems like the perfect time to dust the cobwebs off this 1987 Fiat brochure, with its decidedly strange cover featuring the latest version of the ageing X1/9 sports car. The model provided a 'warm and cosy' haven from the blood-curdling terrors of the night. #carbluesky

    The Countryman estate (also sold by Morris dealers under the Traveller name) had also been upgraded to the 'thrusting' 1275cc engine in the revised range. A wood-effect side panel distinguished the model. Its large luggage capacity also transformed into a double bed-size sleeping compartment.
