    Well the "intersection of transphobia and misogyny" is kind of a pop-etymology of the term that doesn't even use the actual definition in "Whipping Girl". It doesn't make sense either, because it's not an intersection of two things. It's not like transphobia can be neatly separated from misogyny.

    entirely possibly that this has been part of the zelda visual DNA for a long time and we just didn't fuckin notice because we had previously just accepted it as part of the zelda series having a wide range of artistic styles like always lol

    one thing about the whole "zelda remake character designs are inspired by puppets!" thing is that it actually seems like that inspiration may go back further and we just didn't originally realize it. for example, the somewhat strange facial proportions of TP npcs make more sense in that context too:
