  🚨BREAKING: More than HALF A MILLION people in Scotland are at risk of needing to use a food bank over the next year. But this doesn’t have to be our future. We need urgent action from both the Scottish & UK Governments to ensure everyone can afford the essentials.

  Rates of support in Universal Credit are detached from reality. Great to give evidence to APPG for Ending the Need for Food Banks inquiry on this on behalf of @jrf-uk.bsky.social. We need an independent process to help set UC rates based on actual evidence of essential living costs.

  New @trusselluk.bsky.social research today: - c 9 million people facing severe hardship and at risk of needing to use a food bank. 2.9 million children and 6 million adults. - Would be much worse if gov hadn't lifted the 2 child limit, - protected >600,000 people… 1/n
