The AO3 subs are doing absolutely no favors for their community. The sense of arrogant entitlement is staggering. When I said that there wasn't much difference between people disrespecting authors' wishes and people feeding art into AI against the artists' wishes, I was more right than I thought.

The "we're just going back to the roots of the community!" argument appears to be a common one. This isn't 1971 anymore. People passed zines around outside of the authors' involvement because *no other option existed.* We have different now.

tl;dr: authors matter just as much. The community wouldn't exist without them. Stop treating them like their opinions and wishes don't mean anything.

the community dies. They will have to turn to AI to get their fix. And AI, until it goes full Skynet at least, will happily take what the human authors refused to.
